Why isn't there full black in the website design?

In designing websites, Dark Theme or dark colors is a trend that is very popular nowadays. Because there are many advantages to using it. such as reducing the power of the monitor. Helps protect the eyes It is also beautiful and modern, but the Dark Theme design will not use black (#00000) and white (#fffff) because many problems may occur later, such as

-Using completely black as a background creates too high a concentration (Contrast) between the background and text. This will cause the user to feel blind and uncomfortable.

-Using completely black as a background will cause insufficient depth (Depth). This will make the user unable to distinguish which part is the background. Which part is a button? Or which part is the information?

-Using completely black as a background will cause color inconsistency (Color Harmony) because there is no combination of tone (Tone) and color saturation (Saturation), which will make the user feel bored. and do not get emotional from using it

So which color is suitable for the Dark Theme?

When we want to design a Dark Theme, we should use tones that go together perfectly, such as green tones, light green, dark green, dark green, etc. We should use a contrast value that is not too high, such as 15.8. We should use an appropriate Depth value, such as using shadows or colors. slightly different To show depth, we should use a Saturation value that is not too high. so that the colors don't look too bold and comply with WCAG standards

Dark Theme or dark mode is changing the theme or background color of websites, applications, or electronic devices to dark or black. To help reduce the power consumption of the monitor. and prevent eye damage. But the question is, does Dark Theme help prevent energy use? That depends on many factors, such as the type of monitor and the brightness of the screen. and the surrounding light conditions

Display type: Dark Theme helps prevent more power consumption than Light Theme only on OLED screens because in OLED screens when black is displayed It will cause the pixels to not work. And does not use energy, but in LCD monitors when displaying black There will still be black light coming out. Because there is an LED light sheet that is turned on all the time.

Screen Brightness: A dark Theme helps prevent maximum power consumption. When the screen brightness is turned on at 100% it will prevent energy consumption by approx. 39-47% which will be at the level. 30-50%. At this level of screen brightness, Dark Theme will help prevent power consumption by around 3-9%. But in general use, users tend to adjust the screen brightness automatically.

Surrounding light conditions: A Dark Theme does not always help prevent power consumption because sometimes turning on a Dark Theme + high screen brightness uses the same amount of power as turning on a Light Theme + low screen brightness for example. Experimenting with the Google Maps app on a Pixel 5 with a Dark Theme turned on + 50% screen brightness used the same amount of power as with a Light Theme turned on + 20% screen brightness.
