According to a new report by Techcrunch, the agency used emergency powers contained in the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to issue local orders. Which can be enforced for up to three months, said it is taking precautionary measures against Worldcoin's humanitarian tools in light of the sensitive nature of the biometric data being collected. This may pose a high risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals. It also raised specific concerns about the risk to minors, citing complaints it received.


Today, the High Court in Madrid refused to issue an injunction against the AEPD's order, saying "protection of the public interest" must be prioritized.
